  • Hi Helen

I’m good, last treatment tomorrow. And then pet scan which I’m anxious about. Never had one before. I am trying not to think to much about my last treatment but it’s hard when it’s like your security to stop it from coming back. I’m made an extra appointment with my oncologist to talk to him about the scan and for him to give me someth…[Read more]

Hi Jenny, Welcome. I think we can all say we hate the impact this horrible disease is having on us and our families. I know I’m over the anxiety and getting depressed and upset, I have 2 boys 31 and 20, so I get so upset worried I’m not going to see them get married and have kids. Everyone is always like don’t let it rule your life, don’t let it s…[Read more]

    Hi Ley,

Chemo did the same for me, shrunk my tumour right down they couldn’t even see it on the cat scan. My surgery was about 2 and half hours, but I had an hysterectomy back in 2001 so for me it was just removing the last ovary and tube plus omentum and the surgeon having a really good look around. As long as your surgeon is a gyro/oncologist y…[Read more]

    Hi Michelin,

I’ve just done the genetics test so I’m still waiting results but yes statistics are frightening and apparently so outdated they say you shouldn’t look at them . They say everyone is different. I have recently joined a Facebook group called ovarian cancer Aussie support and there are women on there that are more than 5 yrs survi…[Read more]

    Hi Ley,

Welcome, I had my surgery at the beginning of February. When it comes to recovering from surgery I found everyone is different but if you can the next day get out of bed. Even just sitting up on the edge of the bed. Pace yourself don’t rush, I took an extra pillow to place over my stomach to help with coughing. Can I ask where your h…[Read more]

  • Hi Helen,

I’m glad you did a lot better with your treatment this time. I found the genetics testing ok I got very emotional and found it a bit daunting. Still have a few weeks to go before I find anything out. I’m still finding it very hard to cope with the diagnosis.  Do you have Facebook Helen? You should join the ovarian cancer Aussie supp…[Read more]

  • Hi Helen,

Thanks so much for preparing me for the genetics test. And I’ll keep you posted. Since all this started I now suffer from anxiety so I might have to take half a tablet before I go.

I’m very pleased to share my mind over matter with you and I hope it works for you, it’s been working so far even with the double dose. So this Friday I’ll…[Read more]

    Hi Sioux,

Welcome, I think you’ll find all our stories are long but yet similar.. I too was diagnosed November last year and I’m still also processing it. Because yes it does happen fast. Do you know what stage you are?.

I think sharing stories makes people feel not alone. Knowing that the same thing happened to you has happened to so many and…[Read more]

  • Hi Helen,  I too have taxol weekly but carbo every 3rd. Double dose. Still doing ok with the nausea, haven’t really had any. Been finding it hard to cope these past few days. Just been getting very down and scared what the future holds. But I also think it’s the drugs and chemo that give you depression. I try and be strong and positive and yeah…[Read more]

  • Hi Helen,

This might seem a bit weird but I kind of put it out to the universe that I’m happy to deal with the fatigue and the aching bones but I don’t want the nausea. I just kept repeating it, I even whispered to myself as I sat waiting to start chemo. I do sometimes believe in mind over matter. Who knows maybe it’s just a coincidence. I also…[Read more]

  • Hi Quilty,

I ask my dr today about the difference between 3 weekly dose to weekly. Well weekly means you’ll get a low dose than one big dose. So less side effects with weekly (supposedly). I’ve done some research on it and there is thought that it prevents the cells from rejuvenating. They don’t get the chance too. But that is just a theory and t…[Read more]

  • Hi Quilty,

I’m sorry you had a reaction. But I have read (I have studied everything since I was diagnosed) that with help it can be reversed, so hang in. I have same chemo drugs with taxol weekly. So I start with a double of carbo and taxol, then the following 2 weeks I have just taxol then a double again. I have read that weekly is good as you c…[Read more]

  • Hi Helen,

All went well with chemo. Felt nauseated for most of the week, that’s the only thing I hate about it. I can handle the fatigue. I’m on carbo and taxol. I had both last week, tomorrow is just taxol. So I have 1 week double, 2 weeks single. This will be for 6 weeks I think. They are using the same platinum ones because it shrunk my tum…[Read more]

Hi Alice, you would think that we would here about these survivors more often. I research, that’s what I do. So I’ve decided to start doing excerisers as certain reports have stated that it can help in many ways. I have to try and get back to work, even though I work from home. Maybe one day I’ll join a gym. But for now I’m going to buy some we…[Read more]

  • Well starting chemo again got off to an interesting start. Got a phone call at 8:30am from the day unit asking if I could go in early because they didn’t get my LFT test (liver function).
